Acupuncture and acupressure derive from traditional oriental medicine. They are based on a belief that emotional and physical energy, known as qi or chi, flows through the body along specific bio-chemical pathways called meridians. These meridians regulate body functioning by ensuring the proper distribution of energy throughout the body’s organ systems.

When the flow of energy is slowed down or impeded, disease and disability can result.  Acupuncture and acupressure stimulate the release of blocked energy to restore and normalize function.  Acupuncture does this through the insertion of hair thin needles at meridian points; acupressure does the same but through finger pressure, massage and stroking.

Benefits – The World Health Organization cites 104 conditions that acupuncture/pressure can treat, among them: migraines, sinusitis, paralysis from stroke, rheumatoid arthritis, muscloskeletal pain, back pain, chronic degenerative knee and hip problems, sciatica, nausea and motion sickness.
